African Violet Care

The African violet, also known as saintpaulia, is a perennial flowering plant mainly found on the African continent. The name comes from its strikingly bright violet color which can be seen from quite a distance away. This is a common house plant that can be grown indoors or outdoors.

African violet care is relatively simple to follow. These plants grow easily in most continental states and prosper in temperatures ranging in the seventies. Avoid growing in colder climates where outdoor temperatures could fall below the seventy degree mark. Avoid desert temperatures in excess of 90°F on a daily basis. It is acceptable to grow the plant in a pot or vase with lots of soil.

Watering the plant should be done every few days as necessary. Check the soil to make sure it is not too moist and water as needed. Never water the plant from the top, always from the bottom. Never water with ice cold water but let it be at room temperature.

African violet care is simple and they make a great addition to any household. It is somewhat easy to care for one so why not take the opportunity to start growing your own beautiful flowers for yourself.
